@killyourfm Yeah, add that and I'm out. I don't know *anyone* who would say "yeah, that's what I want!". I know plenty who will nope out, though. OOT indeed.

@trezzer And this IS the same man who, more than 6 years ago, shunned the Switch and refused to bring any Madden or Sims games over to that platform because "people prefer to play those titles on other consoles."

EA will do a complete reversal with Switch 2, I can promise you that.

@killyourfm I'm sure they'll do a couple of initial releases not really tailored for the platform, and when they peter out for the same reason, they'll ignore it again, because they don't know how to innovate beyond incremental progress most of the time. They did it with Wii U and Switch. They tried a little on Wii and actually had some success - but nowhere near what a company their size ought to be able to.

@killyourfm I mean, it's EA, who multiple times has either had from a studio under them or bought out a game series that was leading the market and driving new gameplay innovations, deciding that they know better than the devs that have shown to make an amazing game 5-10 times already and giving it to some cheaper developers and making it more generic, then when that fails blaming lack of interest in that genre/game series/etc. EA's been out of touch since the 90's hit.

@killyourfm It's actually amazing how many franchises they've bought out over the years that were popular enough to easily release as one of the most popular games of the year, even with a half-decent, mediocre game released under it. only for them to just continually sit on it and never do a thing.

@killyourfm yeah.... that baldurs gate 3 (insert favoured popular single player game here) was a flop

@killyourfm
I play games when I need a break from other humans... I am not going to meet other humans online to play the game!

@Normand_Nadon I definitely understand what you mean.

@akane O_O I didn't even think about that.
Oof, that would be very, very undesirable.

@killyourfm Ironically, in my opinion at least, the thing the probably hurt this game the most was precisely that earlier it was meant to me a multiplayer bs and you can see clearly that a lot of its mechanics are MMOesque, reminds me of ESO. Then they pivoted into a single player again, due to the success of Star Wars Fallen Order and likely the devs themselves trying their best to avert this disaster. Pure speculation on my part though.

@killyourfm Baldur's Gate 3 would like to have a word. This is really baffling. Maybe, just maybe, BioWare has lost its touch for making engaging games with great characters, intriguing story, and fun game mechanics? Just sayin...

@killyourfm I understand what you're saying, but perhaps this is just a misalignment of definitions one of good. For you, success is for the game to have whatever you like to see in an RPG, which you justifiably assume will also please other players. For him it's about how much money his company can make out of the game. Because the only reason for a for-profit company to make a game is, obviously, to make profit.
