Honestly, I stopped tracking new physical Game Boy releases more than 20 years ago. But with a renewed love for retro gaming came a wonderful discovery: indie developers have kept the Game Boy scene alive and well. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

A fun little article to close out the week.
Happy Friday!
Now I REALLY want to get an Analogue Pocket and start collecting a physical Game Boy collection again (long story but my retro console collection is gone).
There are other options I'm aware of like the ModRetro Chromatic, but I'm not sure how to feel about that one.
@killyourfm would like to have something like the analogue. But to expensive for my taste
@killyourfm If not an Analogue Pocket there are some good screen kits to upgrade a legit Game Boy Color, some of which are just drop-in. Same for adding a rechargeable battery with a USB-C slot.
@jenny753 Modding a GBC makes me nervous, but I modded a couple iPod Classics, so maybe I shouldn't be so nervous?
@killyourfm You may already know of them but I'd like to recommend you my 2 favorite Youtube Channels for classic game hardware mods.
First up, "Your Cool Uncle Marisa".

She's done a number of Game Boy Color-related mods including the GB Pocket Color and the Frog Boy Color.
@killyourfm And the second being "Macho Nacho Productions".
@jenny753 I'm a simple guy. I see gorgeous Dreamcast mods, I subscribe.
@killyourfm Have you had a look at Evercade? I really enjoy it as a way of getting plug and play physical versions of games from a variety of platforms - both new and old titles.
@trezzer Oh noooooo why did you remind me about that?
Honestly, it was sort of on my peripheral radar but I ignored it when it first launched because I knew it would be a money pit.
(I'm actually grateful you reminded me about it)
@killyourfm There’s a bartop arcade edition called Alpha with optional Sanwa parts too, now.
@trezzer Ha! I'm watching a review of that right now. This is one very appealing thing about Evercade, is that the entire ecosystem supports the same cartridges.
