Damn! I installed Asahi Linux on my M2 Mac Mini before checking if audio through HDMI worked.
It does not (yet), which is a deal breaker right now
@killyourfm it shows how far we've come that Linux audio generally works well enough you didn't feel you needed to check!
@reb True! I just made the assumption because it works brilliantly on my M1 MacBook Pro.
@killyourfm @reb bit off topic, but do you have any advice on a distro that plays nicely on a 2017 Intel MacBook Pro with touchbar? Closest I’ve got is OpenSUSE, but no touchbar which means no ESC key. Have to remap caps lock to ESC. Not ideal.
@bouncywallaby @reb Sorry, I don't know :(
My last experience w/ Linux on an Intel MacBook was my old 2013 MacBook Air. I used @elementary for that and it was a fantastic experience.
But I don't know which distros have touchbar support -- it's a great question! Let me boost this and hopefully you get some answers.
@killyourfm @reb @elementary the touchbar is a complete waste of space. Heaps of info to get it working, but all appears to be for a newer version of it (with the physical ESC key). I also had a 2013 MacBook Air with Elementary on it. Worked an absolute treat!
