"But because Bazzite can so convincingly transform a Windows handheld into a true Steam Deck rival, I believe it singlehandedly proves that handheld manufacturers are making the wrong choice if they doggedly stick with Windows."
[~Via The Verge, from the opening paragraphs of what seems like a fantastic piece -- but I'm not linking to it, because it's behind a paywall.]
EDIT: Linking after a pleasant response from @seanhollister@mastodon.world. But be advised it is paywalled:

@killyourfm thanks! Appreciate the praise, respect your decision not to pay, but admit I'm a little confused by the decision not to link.
Why not let your audience make the same choice for themselves... particularly since they won't hit the paywall unless they've already read a bunch of other Verge stories?
@seanhollister @killyourfm Ah I didn't know the paywall is linked to number of article views. I check the verge on my work PC throughout the day and don't want to log onto my person google account (use that for my verge account) on that machine. I was surprised how often I got paywalled and now I understand why.
@ryanmfrancis I do wish we had some better indicators for that. Maybe in a future version of the paywall
@seanhollister Thanks for your reply, Sean! My decision to not include the link is from multiple experiences where I've been linked to an article only to hit a paywall. It is frustrating, and that's not something I wanted to subject any of my followers to.
BUT, I appreciate your response and your reasoning. (As someone above noted, I also didn't realize it was triggered by a certain number of articles read. I'll give this more consideration...)
@killyourfm I see your reasoning! I'll leave it at that and thanks again for the mention. Happy holidays!
@killyourfm I do think I'll take the liberty of linking it myself, though! That way it's on me, not you https://www.theverge.com/2024/12/30/24329005/bazzite-asus-rog-ally-x-steam-os-editorial
@killyourfm The more I read about Bazzite the more tempted I am to install it on my desktop machine in place of Debian.
