A failed #icu library update by compatibility in #arch causes a stop working Linux and after restart a blue screen in #linux. The solution was using a live usb, in chroot install manually the #icu 76.1-1 zst package with help other usb, remove orphans packages, connect wifi using #iwctl, update via pacman the icu library with override and finally restart
..."Ventura County Emergency Medical Services officials.
They said that on Thursday the hospitals together reported only 68 available beds. Some emergency rooms have been seeing unprecedented numbers and intensive care units have been hit hard. The hospitals reported only three available ICU beds for adults across the county...."
17-year-old #Denys_Zhurba has passed away in the #ICU. He was injured due to a drone strike on a residential building in #Sumy on Jan 30.
That brings the total number of people killed in the strike to 11.
My deepest condolences.

#Daryna proposed to #Mykhailo in the intensive care unit. He was paralyzed after his injury and could not even speak. But #Daryna has made a firm decision to be with him. They got married in the #ICU.
Several months ago, #Daryna and #Mykhailo_Gurjii repeated their vows. They say it was a decision they thought through.
For over a year, #Mykhailo has been undergoing rehabilitation, and his progress is incredible. #Daryna is always by his side. This coulple proves the power of love.

November 21 – 23: Israeli attacks kill two people and wound 12 medical staff at Kamal Adwan. Abu Safia, the facility’s director, is hit in the leg by shrapnel. The hospital’s electricity generator, and its oxygen and water supply networks, are also disrupted.
November 29: Israeli drone kills killed Dr Ahmed Al-Kahlout, the director of the hospital’s ICU, as he passed through the gate of the facility.
Footage from inside Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza shows the #ICU and #neonatal ward filled with patients who would be impossible to transport on short notice.
Meanwhile, the US-backed Israeli army continues to detonate explosive robots near the hospital and to bombard the facility, as patients take cover from the relentless shelling and sniper fire in the hospital corridors.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, Director of Kamal Adwan #Hospital
Part 2(2)
### Yesterday was one of the darkest, most difficult and bloodiest days at Kamal Adwan Hospital.
Thank God, we were able to put out the fire with our bare hands, as there were no fire extinguishers available and the water supply was cut off. We used blankets and our bare hands to control the fire.
The scene inside the ICU was like a war zone, with bullets piercing the equipment, walls and windows.
It is incomprehensible why we are being targeted in such a brutal way.
We have been addressing the world for over 75 days, and yet nothing is being done. This indifference is allowing the occupiers to escalate their violence, and I fear that they will continue to attack other departments, which could lead to the destruction of the hospital before the eyes of the world. Unfortunately, this is our reality.
We currently have 71 injuries, and this is the only #ICU in northern #Gaza.

Recently I was preparing a talk for the fwdays PHP in Kyiv. A talk about internationalization. And gues what: One of the parts of internationalization is: Timezones. Yes, I know, I am fond of them and all but that’s not what this is going to be about.
In the talk I am showing how to propperly render a datetime for a given locale in a given timezone using […]
Recently I heard, probably on ABC RN, a health professional talk about people seeing their dead loved ones during ICU and palliative care, or asking for their long dead mothers.
If anyone knows about that (evidence based), point me to information? I'd like to comfort some family with facts (facts are comforting in this case, I think).
@heiglandreas I remember that you mentioned this before during one of my Intl-talks. I haven't checked if they are slower or if we, who should install newer versions, are just too lazy. #ICU

I do a lot of ICU consults as a microbiologist, and the intensivists are often talking about PPI prophylaxis for ventilated patients. Now proof it's important! #criticalcare #medicine #ICU #ITU
In Canada, misinformation during the #COVID19 pandemic contributed to #VaccineHesitancy, resulting in an estimated 3500 additional #ICU admissions and 2800 additional deaths at a cost of $30 million. The 2023 Edelman Trust Barometer found that up to 50% of respondents followed #SocialMedia advice that contradicted their #doctors’ advice. (2/2)
Vasopressor dosing, a focus on norepinephrine, pillar of #ICU’s pharmacological arsenal: pharmacological properties
current dosing strategies
A consensus of clinical definitions needed (ie refractory shock or high-dose vasopressors), as equivalences between medications (catecholaminergic/non), to facilitate comparisons. Moreover, optimal timing of initiation, dosing strategies in special populations, weaning or de-escalation still to be defined.

Does #telemedicine help improve palliative care in ICUs? EPIC, a newly launched EU project headed by #CharitéBerlin, aims to find out. The goal is to allow experts in palliative medicine to be brought in virtually, and thus fast and from anywhere. The consortium is receiving about 6.3 million euros in funding from the European Commission for a period of five years.
Berlin! We broke our record!
Okay, it's the record for ICU utilization due to Covid-19, but whatever, we did it!
And by that I mean, literally by !
