I know it's a game from 2016, but I never stop being amazed at #SteamDeck running DOOM on Ultra quality at a rock solid 60fps.
Now I'm wondering what it looks like on the OLED Steam Deck at 90FPS.
oh no...
And now I know! This is DOOM 2016 on Ultra preset. One is running on Steam Deck LCD, one on Steam Deck OLED. Both have their screen brightness at max.
The OLED has a higher framerate, a ridiculously better and brighter screen, and less power consumption.
I'm in love
@killyourfm ah it's still $35AUD otherwise I'd maybe grab it and try it on my deck, I've got the OLED one.
@micah Then I *could* use my OG Steam Deck as a permanently docked retro gaming machine.... oh my....
@killyourfm @micah While you're at it, Jellyfin runs very well on the Deck and pretty well when docked.
If you want a more flexible OS, Bazzite is the way to go on the Deck LCD, although flatpak support on SteamOS is very good. I have run handbrake on the Deck and it encodes faster than my older i7 4790 while using a lot less power.
If you want to encrypt the storage, Bazzite has a `ujust` command to unlock LUKS with the TPM,which is pretty nice if you can about protecting your data from others.
@TeamLinux01 @micah Bookmarking this, thanks! Btw I've been running Bazzite as my Linux daily driver and really enjoying it so far.
Aurora-DX is my daily driver on a Lenovo Ideapad 5 14" 2-in-1 Laptop.
The processor is actually a 8845HS. I put Bazzite on it and it worked well enough, but I like Aurora's choices for default apps a little more plus the developer experience stuff. I do a little gaming on it and Steam flatpak runs decently.
It also supports LUKS TPM unlocking as well.
@killyourfm Does that game support HDR?
@TeamLinux01 I don't believe so...but DOOM Eternal does! I can't wait to see that.
@killyourfm In fairness to the LCD, the frame limiter is on by default and is keeping it at a locked 60—if you unlocked it, it would probably also be at 72 fps in that area.
That said, it would only make the battery life worse, so the OLED still wins!
