My new life goal is to have a 20+ acre homestead by the time I'm 50. A forever home. Somewhere semi-remote and surrounded by forest. Less people and more animals. Less technology. Less preservatives and toxins. Less noise. Less light pollution. Less reliance on anyone but myself and the land.
@killyourfm isn't 50 a bit late for you to fully enjoy it though? That's a lof land to maintain for only about a decade, no?

@killyourfm haha, I meant nothing of the dort! I did miss the part of your current age, so please forgive me on that. My point was merely for people with this goal to start early, so the payoff lasts longer! Not that I am an authority on the matter, obviously.

You’re absolutely right though! And I wish I would have opened my mind to this lifestyle two decades ago — but I was young and stupid.
