The Pentagon fired 6,000 USDA workers.
Elon Musk called it “cleaning house.”
Turns out it was illegal.
They just rehired all 6,000 with full back pay.
Translation:
Musk accidentally gave them a paid vacation with taxpayer money.
This isn’t efficiency.
It’s elite-level stupidity dressed up as power.
@crk5
It's called a reign of terror.
Anyone thinking these 6000 are feeling overly secure in their jobs? Considering that job security is one of the reason to work for the government.

@yacc143 @crk5 @LordCaramac
I'm working for the government, and I remember from 30 years ago that job security was not on my list when I went working for the government. It was just a new job for another company (I thought): a next step in my career. I had no clue of the differences (in the Netherlands). Perhaps I was a little naive, but I try to stay that way.
So, it was just a next step, but I stayed, and now it's for the greater good.
But, I am not everybody else, of course (n=1).
@Hjboon @crk5 @LordCaramac And Europe is very clearly not the USA ;)
I'd even go so far that nearly all countries deal at least slightly different with their civil service.
@crk5 not that it felt like a vacation for them
@crk5 How did the Pentagon fire USDA workers?
